Bud Beasley Character Education Program
The Character Education Program is heading full-force into its second year at Bud Beasley Elementary School. Classes for this elementary school began its 2008 - 2009 school year in July and the message being sent home by students for this month is "REPSECT".
The Character Education Program was implemented at Bud Beasley Elementary School during the 2007-2008 school year by a group of parents and teachers who were concerned its students were not being introduced to basic life skills that help build positive characteristics in children.
With this program, the teachers and parents at Bud Beasley are trying implement basic life skills that will be carried over from school to home. These skills include respect, responsibility, compassion, kindness, tolerance, justice, fairness and citizenship.
Each month will be different. Parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer and participate in this program. The students will be doing class activities that will be geared toward each theme. Banners and posters will be hung in classrooms and in the multipurpose room that will serve as a reminder of each skill being practiced that month.
Students will be asked to give speeches to their peers during assemblies. They will be asked to talk about what they learned, how they implemented what they learned into their daily lives and to give examples of changes in behavior they have experienced or noticed in others.
What great way to start the school year! Wouldn't it be great if we could all implement some of these life skills into our daily lives? If you could , what life skill would you implement to make your life better?
