~Lavender Ridge~
Nestled between the Truckee River and the hills west of downtown Reno, you will find nearly 3,000 lavender plants grown at Lavender Ridge.

Two huge fields are planted in Lavender, which in summer, right now, are bursting with color and scent. The plants at Lavender Ridge are free from pesticides and are irrigated with the natural, crisp, clear water of the Truckee River with its source, Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra Mountain snow pack.

Lavender Ridge was established on the remnants of an old farmstead dating back to the 1920's. The owners, Mike and Kristin Harris, bought the property without knowing what they would do with it. While visiting New Zealand in 1999 they discovered a working Lavender farm and fell in love with the concept immediately. After some research, the couple soon realized they had everything they needed to grow lavender here in Northern Nevada.

The 1920's farm house, barn and several storage sheds were preserved and now serve a purpose at Lavender Ridge. The house has been turned into a gift shop. Inside the shop you will find a large array of hand crafted lavender products. All of the oils and creams found inside the shop are formulated, bottled and packaged on site.

Other products found at Lavender Ridge include candles that are made of pure soy wax and contain no petroleum products which make them environmentally friendly, essential oils that are great for cooking as well as soothing for the soul, culinary spices, creams for your body, and gifts for the home and kitchen.
Customer ready gift baskets can be called in and ordered and ready to go prior to your arrival.
Lavender Ridge offers special events all year for visitors who want to tour the fields, enjoy a wine tasting or take a cooking class. The cooking classes educate consumers on how to cook with lavender and offer up some really tasty recipes for cooking with lavender as well.

The 1920's barn was converted into a bottling center distilling the natural oil's from the lavender. A tour can be schedule to watch as Mr. Harris produces the essential oils that are bottled and shipped all over the country.

An old storage shed was turned into a place to make honey. Bees love lavender and what a better place than Lavender Ridge to make, store and sell honey.
Lavender Ridge is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10a.m. to 5p.m. and Sunday 11a.m. to 5p.m. Closed on Mondays.
