Reno and Sparks Youth Summer Camp & Classes for 2011

So now that spring has sprung,  without - a - doubt summer is right around the corner and for parents and children, thoughts of summer activities are beginning to stir!!

This summer the Washoe County Community Education Department is offering a variety of classes and camps for Northern Nevada children! If you are still looking for a great summer camp for your children, then check out this list!

 SPORTS CAMPS

 Ken Fujii's 30th Annual Basketball Score Camp, Boys & Girls, ages 7 - 15

CULINARY CLASSES

 Kids in the Kitchen One Day Workshops at Damonte Ranch High School for Boys & Girls ages 9 and up

 Join our Kids in the Kitchen classes and learn how to create your own meals and snacks! 

 In these hands-on classes your child will prepare food from recipes, eat your own creations or take them home to share with your family.

You will learn cooking safety tips and techniques that will help you become a knowledgeable cook.  Each class will include a light lunch. Please bring your own drinks.

 A $20 material fee is due at each class meeting.

 1/192 Cupcake Making. Three different types of cupcakes will be created and you will also learn some decorating skills! Your cupcakes will be dessert for your lunch. Date: Tues, June 28

1/193 Fresh Fruits. Fresh fruits are so healthy, delicious and fun to work with. Learn how to carve fruit, make a fruit salad and make a dessert. Some of it will be enjoyed for lunch and the rest goes home to your family. Date: Thurs, July 7

1/194 Summer Grilling. We will be grilling up some delicious meats and making some awesome side dishes. We will enjoy a picnic lunch after grilling, but don't worry, there will be plenty to take home to enjoy with family. Date: Weds, July 27

1/195 Making Breads. Learn the art of making rise breads. We will create a loaf of white bread and a rosemary focaccia. We will then make our lunch using the focaccia. Date: Weds, August 3

1/196 The Art of Pie Making. We will learn how to make three types of pie. A fruit pie, a cream pie and a tart will be created and the tart will be enjoyed with lunch. Date: Weds, August 10

1/197 Mexican Food. Make your own tortillas then turn them into three delicious dishes. Some you will enjoy for lunch and the rest will go home to your family. Date: Thurs, August 18
