Don't Let The Closing Of The Rink On The River Keep You Off The Ice

Reno's Rink On The River is set to close this Super Bowl Sunday. Tomorrow will be your last day to get outside and enjoy one of downtown Reno's favorite winter activities. The rink had been scheduled to stay open until President's Day, but by closing two weeks early, operating costs will be reduced and  the City of Reno will save a few bucks.

    Clip Art Winter

Taking my family to the rink is one of my favorite things to do in Reno. The decision to close the rink early is a smart idea to help save a little extra $$$ for the City of Reno, who is in need to find ways to cut costs.

If you are interested in taking advantage of the last day to skate, the hours of operation will be 11am to 6pm.

Admission costs $7 for adults and $5 for children under 13 years old plus there is a $2 skate rental. The rink is located on the corner of First and Virginia Streets, right next to the Truckee River in downtown Reno.

Parking is free at the Club Cal Neva's parking garage, located next to the rink. So hurry on down to Reno's Rink on the River for you last change to ice skate with family and friends in Reno this winter season.

The Rink On The River is closing this Sunday, February 6, 2011 but for those of you who love the ice, there is still plenty of winter left for you to head on up to the ice rink at Northsar at Lake Tahoe. Located in the heart of the Village at Northstar, the enormous skate rink will be open for a few more months.

Cli art childIce skating is FREE to all, and those with no skates, there will be a $5 rental fee.  Open daily from 1pm to 8pm, Northstars skate rink is a perfect place to relax after ice skating with hot chocolate by the fire pits that are located around the rink.

Located about 30 minutes from Reno and roughly 3 hours from the bay are, traveling to Northstar can be a fun family day. If you don't want to drive, there are Shuttle services available from Reno to Northstar.

Bundle up and head  to Lake Tahoe for a wonderful day of ice skating. Temperatures are slightly cooler than Reno temperatures so don't forgot your hat and gloves.

Looking for something to do this Super Bowl Sunday that does no involve watching T.V.? Head to downtown Reno or Northstar at the Lake to enjoy some outdoor fun, exercise and ice skating!
