Where do old phones go? In honor of Earth Day 2009!

Have you ever wondered what happened to all of those old phones with the cords that could stretch from one room to another? Well, just check ou the pictures below and you will know!!

I received these pictures in an email from my  12 year old daughter. She asked me to explain the picture because she had never seen a phone with a cord! Oh, how times have changed!

Terrie - It looks as if someone bid on a "smalls" lot at an auction  ! What agreat way to make lemonade out of lemons :) Who knows what our cell phones will be turned into twenty years from now !

Oh that's funny Terrie! About 3 years ago (when my older son was 9) we were living outside DC and driving to a friends party that was going to be 90 minutes we took our more efficient Honda Civic (it did not have a navigation system) but my other car (an Acura MDX did, as did our Acura TL, and our previous two cars, a Honda Pilot and a Honda Accord.) So Jake looks at me and says "do you know where you're going?" I say, Yes, I've been there before. He says, "I don't, can we put it in the NAV?" It took me 10 minutes to explain that navigation systems were a new technology. He couldn't recall us ever owning a car that didn't have NAV.

Later that year when we visited my parents in Gardnerville (planning our move back) I took him into my parents basement and showed him LPs. You should've seen his face! :-)

Wow.  Weird looking picture.  Are those "phone sheep"?

Ahh.  Phone cords.  Can't say I miss them.

Terrie - I can remember my step-mom making me fix the phone cord after I had ruined its nice tight coils.  I do not miss the phone cord one bit.  I love those sheep though.

Susie ~ Out of the mouth's of babes for sure! I am certain she is still confused over this photo.

Laura ~ You are right. And I do wonder what our cel phones, lap tops, ipods will all look like in 20 years or more!

Christianne ~ Great story! It is amazing how baffled they get by old technology, if we can call it that and how they feel lost with out the new stuff!

Remember always having to pull over to make a call. And then turning your call upside down looking for a quarter to put in the payphone! (I think I am starting to sound old.)

Karen ~ Some of the old phones are pretty classic. Like the one shaped like a banana holder, you just pick it up to answer! Thank you for your comment!

Ken ~ Glad to hear you remember the  phones with cords, even if you do not miss them! LOL! Yes, I believe those are phone sheep! Someone was using their imagination that day!

Matt ~ Too funny! I remember some pretty long phone cords that would always be tangled. I am glad they are gone as well. Thanks for stopping by!

That's the coolest thing.  I'm going to send it to my daughter who has lived life without a corded phone as well.

I hated those phones because the cords always got tangled up from my brother walking around. Same thing with the old headphones.
