If you are thinking of driving in Northern Nevada during a storm or if you are planning a road trip though the mountains during winter months you will need to plan ahead before. The first step in planning for any trip is to check road conditions. Below are a few important phone numbers that will help you decide whether or not you should leave your house during a winter storm:

Updated Road Control Information:

Cal Trans 1-800-427-7623 ~ Call this number when taking a trip over the Sierra Nevada Mountains into California.

Nevada 511 ~ Call 511 for all Nevada road controls.

For emergency information call "Reno Direct" at775- 334-INFO. Reno direct will notify Public Works of weather related emergencies such as flooding.

For emergency assistance in Sparks, call 353-1508.

For sandbag information call:

 Reno Direct at 775-334-INFO for Reno

For Unincorporated Washoe County Call 775-328-2189

For Sparks call 775-353-1500

For all other emergencies dial 911 ~ Reno Nevada Emergency Weather Phone Numbers

I remember having to put chains on my car making the trip from Reno to Lake Tahoe.

Some of these numbers would hve been very helpful to have prior to making that trip!
