Treat Your Compeition The Way You Want To Be Treated - And Actually Wish Them Well

Written by Jane Grant , this post is a great read and rings true no matter line of work you are in, or at least is should!

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, by Deepak Chopra is one of the first books that I read that speaks about keeping things "nice", with your competitors and actually helping them out, when it's appropriate by giving advice and or encouragement

We Realtors, are a unique bunch in that we are all independent contractors whether we are Brokers or Realtors.  There are so many of us as well, making the competition seem overwhelming at times.  We're all trying to do the same thing and sometimes in the same local geographical area.  Activerain promotes assisting and helping our competition in a healthy way and I am thankful for that.  I've learned so much from other Active Rain members and continue to do so.

One of the most useful parts of metaphysical thinking is that the positive energy put into a situation the more positive results will be accomplished.  Wishing your competition well can be a very difficult concept for some.  I can remember one afternoon when I wanted to take a picture of a house that an agent was holding open.  As I climbed a hill in my high heels to get the best shot, she came out with a huge smile and asked if she could help me.   When I introduced myself and she found out I was an agent her mood changed drastically and she snapped at me that there were "Professional", pictures in the MLS.  I ignored her change in tone and kept smiling and being pleasant.  She never stopped being annoyed that I was not the buyer she thought I was but I just didn't let it bother me!

The Secret, teaches us that we create our lives, with every thought every minute of every day. Living The Secret offers tools and ideas to help you live The Secret and create the life of your dream.  Attitudes about the competition can spill over into our own conscienceless and manifest negative in our lives if our thoughts are negative towards our competition.

"Affirmations", to keep ourselves and our lives positive are nothing new but creating a thinking pattern that there is enough business and for ourselves and our competition is a staring point for keeping balanced and realistic thoughts about the competition.

"The universe is rich and abundant and can fulfill my needs....and the competition's too!"

Hi Terrie,  I totally agree with this!  Sometimes, the Realtors here have an "EGO" problem with a "have to win" mentally at all cost...  and they forget how to treat the other Realtors who they work with from time to time... Very good points... ;>))

Thanks Ann-Maria! Your statements are completely true as well. I really don't understand why we all can't play nice!
