Waist Deep In Snow At Mt. Rose Ski Resort

Waist deep powder at the Mt. Rose Ski Resort in Reno, Nevada!

Chutes at Mt. Rose Ski Resort

Mt. Rose Ski Resort has the highest base elevation of any ski resort around Lake Tahoe and is located just 25 minutes from downtown Reno. The popular local ski resort just received 38" of fresh snow from this weeks recent winter storm.Ski Mount Rose

The picture above was taken while standing on top of the "Chutes,"  ski runs that are located about 1500 feet up on the mountain covering over 200 acres on the east side of the resort.

Advanced skiers only please !You won't find me anywhere near the Chutes but if you love powder you will love these runs!

The Mt. Rose Ski Resort has fantastic views of Washoe Valley, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Lake Tahoe Basin. Lake Tahoe is visible from the west side of the mountain. With reasonable lift ticket prices and many special pricing deals throughout the week, this ski resort is one Reno's favorite places to ski.

Terrie,

Great info about MT. Rose, makes me want to be out skiing soon:-)  The kids just aren't into snow skiing and this has bummed out my husband and I.

Enjoy a few good runs for me, I am jealous.

All the best, Michelle

I never was a good skier Terrie but there was a time I was crazy enough to plummet down those chutes thinking I was immortal. Now I'm a whole lot older and a whole lot more mortal.

Terrie, that looks like fun!  I haven't been skiing, but hope to try and do that some day, and snow shoeing!

Terrie:  Another lovely shot.  We had snow here in California only 15 minutes from me in an area called Aguanga, but it was definitely NOT waist deep!!!!!  My kids said it was "calf deep", though!

I am not a skiier but your review of Mt Rose makes me want to take it up.  You won't find me on the bunny slopes OR the "Chutes"

LOL!

Hi Michelle ~ My kids took three years of ski lessons, and then decided they didn't like it! What the heck?? I was so disappointed but I didn't want to force it on them. So now I just go with out them. They are missing out!

Bob~ You are wise not to plummet down any ski slope just for the heck of it. We do get a lot wiser as we get older, for sure!

Kristin ~ I really want to go Snow Shoeing!!! I have friends that do it quite often, I just haven't been able to make it up there when they go. They also do a "midnight" snow shoe event, with a full moon of course, maybe I will make that one this year. It always sounds like so much fun.

Jane ~ Calf deep is perfect! Honestly, I would go for that over the waist deep any day!

Renee ~ If you want to come on up and sit in the Mt. Rose Ski lodge....give me a call! The lodge has a great fireplace with wonderful views of the mountain. A great place to hang out and have a beer!!

WOW Terrie that's a lot of snow and a great plug for Mt. Rose! Did you ever get your website up and running? Are you still interested in some photos from Tahoe?
