Friday Photos ~ A Sandcastle Soiree in Sparks, Nevada

Friday Photos ~ A Sandcaslte Soiree in Sparks, Nevada! Really??

Sandcastle in Sparks Nevada

It might be hard to imagine an event like this one in Sparks, Nevada, but last weekend we were lucky enough to have three of the top professional sandcastle builders at the Sparks Marina building and creating in the sand. This event was sponsored by the City of Sparks and coincides with Reno's Artown that is happening all over Reno and Sparks.

John Woodworth, William Dow and Bert Adamseach created a nautical themed sandcastle. They weren't quite finished when I stopped by so I am sure their finished creation was simply amazing. These photos were taking after on a few hours work on each sculpture.

The Sandcastle Soiree is just another fabulous Sparks, Nevada family fun event!

Terrie - these are such cool sand sculptures and what talent it must take to learn how to do this! It would kill me to have them fall apart or be washed aways! Great photos! have a wonderful weekend!

Terrie - That is a GREAT event for Sparks, Nevada!  And a great way to promote your area!  The last time I was where they built sandcastles was in Carmel.  That was several years ago.  The artists seem to be getting better and better each year!

I love the pirate ship one!  I got a ship for my son today for his birthday, so it is neat!

Hi Terrie:  I just saw a reality show about a group of people who does this for a living, very interesting and they seem to work very hard at this!

It's just amazing what someone with an imagination and a little ability can create. Great stuff here Terrie. Hope all is well!

Looks like a great event for the talented and the not so talented (I fall in the latter category but would love to watch!)

They used to have these on the beach in Santa Cruz when I lived there. The talent and craftsmanship that goes into these is amazing. Cool post

Alexandra ~ Thank you! I was just looking at your blog and you really have some spectacular pictures of your area. Nice work showing off your beautiful area.

You know Kristine ~ I was wondering what happened to the sandcastles after these events are over. Do the builders simply pack up their tools and walk away? Let someone else tear them down or do it themselves? I wonder.

Myrl~ The sandcastle artists are amazing. I saw a show in Half Moon Bay once, it was pretty spectacular.

It is so funny Chris because it took me a minute or two to finally figure out the a Pirate Ship was being built! I had to stand at an angle and it become totally clear. It was obvious after ... and pretty darn cool as well.

Can you imagine going to great beaches all over the word to play in the sand Jane? Well they do more than play in the sand but it must be a rough life!

WOW - those are some amazing photos! We have sand contests down here as well from time to time.

Hey Kristin I hope you didn't get to much rain!! I hear it is really hot where you are so maybe a little rain helped a little? Have a great week.

Craig ~ I am sure with your imagination you could be a sandcastle sculpture if you wanted to! Maybe you could sell some of your ideas to the artists if playing in the sand is not your thing. What do you think?

Renee~ I am with you on this one ~ I am into the watching part as well. Sitting, relaxing, drink in hand on a beach taking in the scenery, that is more me!! lol

Thanks Gerry~ I think great events like this are held on nearly every beach across the county. They do such impressive work people are simply drawn to them!!

Thanks Barbara-Jo~ They are fun to see aren't they. Usually Sandcastle events are at big beautriful seasides along the coast somewhere so having an event like this at the Sparks Marina in the middle of a desert was pretty exciting for us locals!!

It is amazing what people can do with sand. I've tried building sand castles before, but can't imagine coming up with something like these.

I was never any good at building sandcastles for the kids Todd! Just don't have the kind of talent required I guess! Hope your summer is going great!!
