How to get your home ready for a showing in ten minutes or less:

Sellers Get Your Home Ready now

Impromptu showings are inevitable. It can happen to any seller. The showing desk calls and says an agent is in your neighborhood and has a client who wants to see your home in the next ten minutes. Say what?? You can either decline the showing request ( please don't unless you or a family member is not feeling well), or you can approve the showing and do the following easy steps to get your home show-ready in just a matter of minutes:

Sellers Tips to Get Ready for a quick showing

1) Brighten up the home. Turn on all of the lights and open the blinds and curtains.

2) Take out the garbage. Try to empty all trash cans, if possible.

3) Put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and clothes in the washer or dryer.

4) Make the bed and straighten the pillows.

5) Leave. Always leave when you have scheduled showings. It allows the buyers time to really look around and get a feel for your home.

Sellers Get ready for a quick showing

BOOM!! Your house is ready. Hopefully, you have been maintaining the home for potential showings but when you are not prepared for a quick one, try doing the above 5 things and you will be surprised how much better your house will look.

Great tips! Yes you need to leave before the showing!  I recommend clients use a bath caddy to store toiletries while their home is on the market. This way, the caddy comes out when they are getting ready, all toiletries go back in when they are done, and then the caddy goes under the sink.  There's never clutter on the bathroom counters.

Thank you, Erika! I love the bath caddy to hold toiletries while the home is listed, great idea for sellers, convenient too.

I think it is always best to prepare seller by explaining the many types of showings there may be.  "Impromptu" is certainly one of those types.  It's best to be prepared.
