First, I want to thank all of you who commented on my post "Hosting an Open House This Weekend and I Need Your Help!". I received some wonderful tips and ideas on how to help make my Open House a success.
Although I only had two people stop in, I was still pleased. I am usually only disappointed if no one comes by , so I am good with two.
Because I was a little late asking for help, I was not able to try out some of the tips I received. For example, I wasn't able to walk the neighborhood and hand out flyers. I didn't have time to email or fax other offices in Northern Nevada and invite them to my Open House. I didn't have time to put together a raffle with a special price for one lucky visitor. I didn't have time to put a sign out a few days earlier announcing the date and time.
Thank you AR members for those fabulous ideas. I am defiantly going to use them for my next Open House, this Saturday.
I did bring music. Great suggestion.
The power to the condo has been turned off so needless to say I could not bake cookies. That turned out fine with me, I would have eaten most of them anyway.
I did bring a picture from home and displayed it above the fireplace. I put fresh flowers on the mantel as well to add some color. It is amazing the difference a little color can make.
I placed a couple of candles in the bathroom and kitchen that I thought would look nice. I did not light them in case any of my visitors were allergic or sensitve to the smell. It was a lovely day so I opened all the windows and was able to keep the front door open. There was a nice breeze to help air the place out.
I did wish I had a welcome mat. That is going on the list for next time.
I wish I had brought Windex to clean the windows. I din not realize how dirty they were until it was to late. I will be putting Windex on my list of things to bring to future Open Houses.
I plan to advertise more this week, email other offices in the area. Work on a gift basket or some kind of raffle.
I did not receive any offers but my seller is very pleased and did lower the price of the Condofrom $133,000 to $129,000. Now we are at a very reasonable price. Fingers crossed we will sell this weekend.

The entire weekend I had a scene from "American Beauty" in my head. Caroline, played by Annette Benning, was the wife and mother in the movie who just so happens to be a Realtor, was hysterical. I love this movie and the scene with her, for those of you who have seen the movie, where she is having an Open House and she keeps repeating to herself over and over "I will sell this house, I will sell this house" as she strips down to her slip and washes the windows. It its really funny. I just had to share!
