Mark your calenders for the opening of "The Rink On The River!" This Wednesday, November 26, 2008 the outdoor ice skating rink in Downtown Reno will be open to the public following the 5p.m. Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration.
For the last several years my family and I have enjoyed skating at this outdoor rink which always starts its season off with a free skate session for everyone the evening before Thanksgiving. The only requirement is that you bring a warm clothing donation that will be picked up by the Salvation Army.

As you can see from the picture taken last week, Northern Nevada has been experiencing a very warm November, the grass is still green and leaves are still clinging to their trees, but plans are still a go for the rink to open on Wednesday. It should be a beautiful night but be sure to dress in layers, as Nevada weather can change quickly!
The rink is located at the corner of Virgina and First Streets along the Truckee River. Admission is $6 for people 13-54; $4 for youths 3 -12 and seniors 55 and older. Skate rental is $2.
~Group or Private Ice Skating lessons are available. ~
~ Group reservations for private parties and birthday party rentals are available. ~
The Rink On The River is operated by the City of Reno, Parks and Recreation Department. Please feel free to call 775-334-2262 for additional information or to book your next party.
